Current Research Projects

Throughout 2016 the project team will be continuing to carry out various research activities to explore 'Everyday Globalisation' in and around Newtown.

These include meetings with local people to find out about life in Newtown, how the town has changed and how they would like to see it change into the future, carrying out projects with local schools and community groups, and conducting surveys to gather the views and opinions of Newtown residents.

We will be continuing to compile data and information sources about different aspects of the town such as the economy, trade, tourism and migration, which will be available through the facts and figures section of the website. This data will help us build a picture of how a small rural town is functioning within our increasingly globally connected world, and the types of challenges and opportunities that those connections are presenting to Newtown.
